BJERRE: TITLE WITHIN THREE YEARS

Tuesday 3rd January 2012, 15:19
Danish star Kenneth Bjerre is aiming to become world champion within three seasons as he steps up his preparations for 2012.
The Esbjerg-born man has agreed deals with Elite League club Peterborough, Swedish Elitserien outfit Indianerna and Danish Super League team Grindsted. He also hopes to agree a contract in Poland by the end of this week.
Bjerre has retained his main sponsors Skjern Bank and Det Faglige Hus and, along with these financial backers, he is targeting World Championship gold by the end of 2014.
"I’m going into every year trying to be world champion, but they believe I can do it in the next three years."

He said: “That’s my aim and that’s their aim as well. They’re supporting me and they believe what I believe. I’m going into every year trying to be world champion, but they believe I can do it in the next three years.
“That’s why they’ve put their money up to help me. You need to spend money before you earn money and their investment will make a huge difference.”
Bjerre is currently out in the cold in Poland after failing to agree terms with Wroclaw for next season. The club has now signed Freddie Lindgren, despite the fact the Dane still has a valid contract there.
The Huntingdon-based rider admits the Olympic Stadium side asked him to take a pay cut. He said: “They did that and that’s fair enough, but there is a limit I’m prepared to go down to as well.”
Ekstraliga teams are limited to just one SGP regular for this season and given that all 10 sides have now signed their one permissible Grand Prix heavyweight, Bjerre may be forced into First Division.
But the rider was tight-lipped over his future and said: “I can’t really say much at the minute, but there should be some news this week.
“None of us have turned an agreement down yet. The case isn’t closed and I’m still talking with clubs in Poland. You’ll have to wait and see what happens.”
