NO UK TOUR FOR AJ

World No.2 Andreas Jonsson has no plans to chase open bookings in the UK as he prepares for the FIM New Zealand SGP in Auckland on March 31.

Like the majority of his Grand Prix rivals, AJ no longer races regularly in the Elite League.

But the likes of world champion Greg Hancock and Nicki Pedersen have already accepted a number of fixtures in Britain in March to get some race time under their belts before the trip to Western Springs.

"Even if you’ve done one or two meetings, it’s not going to make a whole lot of difference."

Jonsson does not believe a few open meetings will give them the edge over him in the land of the long white cloud.

He said: "I’ve thought about going to Britain, but it’s going to be very expensive to do that; to have the bikes and get over there especially for a few meetings.

“So we are doing what we always do. We’re going south for some practice in Italy, Croatia or wherever. That depends on how the weather is at that moment. We’re doing the same thing as normal, but we’re doing it a little bit earlier.

“It will be the same for everybody who goes to New Zealand and even if you’ve done one or two meetings, it’s not going to make a whole lot of difference.

“If you have done 10 meetings, that makes a big difference. If you’ve done one or two meetings instead of none, I don’t think that will matter too much.”
