Slovakian sensation Martin Vaculik underlined his Grand Prix credentials by storming to a 15-point maximum to win the SGP qualification quarter final at Tarnow.

Despite being drawn into the hardest meeting, Vaculik warmed up for his World Championship debut in Gorzow next Saturday by leaving a host of past and present SGP stars trailing on his Ekstraliga home track. Polish international Piotr Protasiewicz, third in last season’s GP Challenge, was second on 13.

Current Grand Prix regular Antonio Lindback was third after winning a run-off with Grzegorz Walasek. They tied on 11 points. But Walasek won’t be upset with fourth spot after he only took his place in the meeting when Croatia’s Dino Kovacic pulled out.

All four riders stormed into the semis along with Janusz Kolodziej and Niels-Kristian Iversen, who both bagged 10. SGP regular Hans Andersen made it on nine, along with the Ukraine’s Andrey Karpov.

Australian international Troy Batchelor just made it on seven points after a monumental win in his final heat race. Britain’s Oliver Allen beat Latvian rider Maks Bogdanovs and Viktor Golubovski in a run-off for the reserve spot. Lewis Bridger and Jonas Davidsson were casualties on three points.
