MAGIC MASTERMINDS TARNOW WIN

Sunday 17th June 2012, 21:05

World Under-21 champion Maciej Janowski took Tarnow five points clear at the Polish Ekstraliga summit with a 14 paid 16-point masterclass in his side’s 48-42 triumph at Rzeszow on Sunday.

The Polish starlet suffered just one loss in six outings, when Rafal Okoniewski got between him and partner Greg Hancock in heat five.

But other than that, Magic was unstoppable and his magnificent haul included two victories over triple world champion Jason Crump.

Former SGP regular Janusz Kolodziej added 11 for the Swallows, while Hancock notched nine and Martin Vaculik warmed up for his Grand Prix debut in Gorzow on Saturday with eight paid 10 points.

In-form Pole Grzegorz Walasek led Rzeszow with 12 paid 13, while Okoniewski accrued nine and Crump collected eight paid nine.

Elsewhere, Torun survived the loss of Darcy Ward, who suffered a broken hand in heat three, to produce a tremendous team performance and tank Wroclaw 54-35 at the Marian Rose Motoarena.

Despite being relegated to second spot by SGP rival Freddie Lindgren in heat four, Chris Holder bounced back to tally 13 paid 14 for the home side as his white-hot Ekstraliga form continues.

Adrian Miedzinski stormed to 11 paid 12 and Ryan Sullivan chalked up 10 paid 11. But brothers Emil and Kamil Pulczynski were arguably the real heroes, scoring nine paid 10 and eight paid 10 respectively.

Tomasz Jedrzejak starred for Wroclaw once again on 15. Sebastian Ulamek bagged nine paid 10 and Lindgren added eight from seven.

Slovenian star Matej Zagar stormed to a 14 paid 15-point maximum for Gorzow as they defeated Gdansk 51-39 at the Edward Jancarz Stadium.

Zagar chalked up two wins over world speedway’s form man Nicki Pedersen, who still ended up on 14 from six at his old home track and offered the visitors’ only serious resistance.

Niels-Kristian Iversen scored 11 paid 13 and Krzysztof Kasprzak notched nine. Former world champion Tomasz Gollob accrued eight and Gorzow SGP wild card Bartosz Zmarzlik picked up seven from three.

Russian international Grigory Laguta scored an heroic 16 paid 17 for Czestochowa as his heat-15 victory over Zielona Gora’s Piotr Protasiewicz and Andreas Jonsson sealed the Lions a 45-45 draw.

AJ, who tallied 11 paid 12 for visitors Falubaz, was the only man to lower Laguta’s colours when they met in heat 12. Patryk Dudek also shone for Zielona Gora on 10 paid 11.

SGP racer Kenneth Bjerre recorded 10 for the Lions, while Grzegorz Zengota notched nine paid 10 and Swedish champion Daniel Nermark collected eight paid nine.

Croatian hotshot Jurica Pavlic has emerged as Leszno’s leader in the absence of injured world No.3 Jaroslaw Hampel. He racked up 12 paid 13 as the Bulls beat Bydgoszcz 51-39 at the Alfred Smoczyk Stadium. Przemyslaw Pawlicki also stepped up to the plate on 10 paid 11 and club legend Damian Balinski picked up nine paid 10.

Tomasz Gapinski was Bydgoszcz’s star man on 12 paid 13, while Krzysztof Buczkowski scored 11. SGP racer Emil Sayfutdinov managed just five points.
