FREDDIE'S TOP THREE TARGET

Monday 23rd July 2012, 05:53
Swedish star Freddie Lindgren is determined to build on his strong start to 2012 and step up his World Championship medal push in the FIM Fogo Croatian SGP in Gorican on Saturday.
Fast Freddie, who leads Wolves into action at home to Coventry on Monday night, is currently sixth in the SGP standings on 63 points – putting him 15 behind Chris Holder, who occupies third place.
But Lindgren’s form in the first half of 2012 suggests he has what it takes to close the gap after he won the FIM Swedish SGP in Gothenburg and finished second in the FIM Dansk Metal Danish SGP at Copenhagen’s PARKEN Stadium.
The Orebro-born man was unable to win a medal with his country in the FIM Monster Energy Speedway World Cup Final on July 14.
The Wroclaw and Dackarna man will be determined to bounce back from that disappointment and give the Swedish fans something to cheer about in the individual World Championship.
"I want to try and be in a few more finals and have a chance to challenge for the medals."

He said: “I’m working all the time. I’m looking upwards. I want to try and be in a few more finals and have a chance to challenge for the medals. That’s what I’m aiming for.
“I think I was pretty dead-on with what I said earlier in the season – I wanted to average 10 points per meeting. I’m on 63 at the moment, so I feel I’m where I want to be and I’m looking to keep climbing.”
Lindgren has never failed to reach the last four in Gorican. He finished fourth in 2010 and third last year and is determined to complete a hat-trick of final appearances at the Speedway Stadium Milenium.
He said: “I still feel in pretty good form and Croatia has been a great track for me. I’ve had a fourth and a third there in the last two years and I’m the track record holder. So I’m looking forward to it.
“I don’t normally like the sandy sort of material they have there, but it has been going well for me. Hopefully I can keep it up.”
