GETTING INTO TOP GEAR

Saturday 28th July 2012, 11:41
Swedish racer Antonio Lindback believes he is bursting back into form for the second half of the season and can’t wait to return to Grand Prix action in Gorican tonight.
The Rio Rocket goes into the FIM Fogo Croatian SGP on the back of sitting out Sweden’s FIM Monster Energy Speedway World Cup Final nightmare at Malilla on July 14.
The rest has clearly served him well. The Avesta-based man has been paid for double figures in both of his last two meetings for Indianerna in the Swedish Elitserien.
Lindback believes he has turned a corner in his homeland after a very lacklustre start to 2012.
He hopes his improved domestic scoring will boost his confidence as he bids to climb up from 10th in the World Championship.
"I’m just starting to feel that it’s fun to race again and I want to do it."

The 27-year-old, who is seven points adrift of the top eight, said: “I’m just starting to feel that it’s fun to race again and I want to do it.
“I’m looking forward to this meeting in Gorican and I want to go out there and race. I’m starting to score good points in Sweden and Poland and I hope I can do well in Croatia tonight.”
Lindback returns to the Speedway Stadium Milenium on September 29 for the GP Challenge, where the top three riders earn Grand Prix qualification for 2013.
But the Rio de Janeiro-born rider knows a strong second half of the season may earn him a top eight spot, meaning he wouldn’t have to worry about reaching the podium in world speedway’s most cutthroat meeting.
He said: “I’ll just take this meeting now and focus on it. It’s very tight if you look at the race for eighth place, so anything can happen.
“I can’t mess up too many more Grand Prix rounds if I want to take one of those places. But I’ll just go out there, try to take points in every race and have a good time.”
