Defending FIM Speedway Under-21 world champion Maciej Janowski hit the front in this year’s title race after winning the second round of the final in Lendava on Saturday.

The Polish international flew out of the blocks with three heat victories, but had to make do with second places behind fellow countrymen Bartosz Zmarzlik and Patryk Dudek in his last two races.

Janowski leads the championship on 24 points, but Danish World Cup winner Mikkel B Jensen is just one behind after finishing second on 12 – recording three seconds and ending with two race victories.

Dudek was third on 11. However, he is just 10th in the standings after missing round one in Lonigo through injury. Danish international Michael Jepsen Jensen, winner of the opening meeting, was fourth on 10, leaving him third on 22.

Polish pair Przemyslaw Pawlicki and Zmarzlik tied on nine points in Slovenia, leaving them fourth and fifth overall respectively.
