ROBINS HIT THE FRONT
Wednesday 8th August 2012, 12:52
Swindon Robins have taken over at the Elite League summit after being awarded a 45-43 win in their clash with King’s Lynn on July 19.
The meeting at Blunsdon ended in a 45-45 draw, but the Speedway Control Bureau docked Stars guest Cory Gathercole’s two paid three-point haul from the scoreline.
King’s Lynn were only eligible to use a guest with a Premier League average of 6.00 or less in place of doubling-up pair David Howe and Ulrich Ostergaard.
This victory gave Swindon two points instead of one and they now lead Poole on point difference, with the clubs tied on 46 at the top.
The Pirates host Peterborough tonight, while the Robins travel to Coventry as they both scrap for supremacy, and the right to choose their play-off semi-final opponents.
