Peterborough have been dealt a double injury blow ahead of tonight’s Elite League home clash with Swindon as new signing Tomas H Jonasson and Krzysztof Buczkowski miss out.

Gdansk rider Jonasson and Bydgoszcz man Krzysztof Buczkowski crashed when their teams met in the Polish Ekstraliga on Sunday.

Jonasson was taken from the track to hospital, while Buczkowski finished the meeting but later complained of pain in his back.

Buczkowski is thought to be just battered and bruised and Jonasson also looks to have escaped serious injury with no broken bones reported. The Swede, however, has been advised to take a week’s rest and Buczkowski will also need a few days to recover.

Because Jonasson has yet to turn a wheel for the club, the rules state that no facility is available and the only option would be to book a rider with a Premier League average of 6.00 or less.

As a result, Panthers will revert back to the original line-up that included Olly Allen.

This also sees Norbert Kosciuch moving back to the reserve berth to face the Robins, rider replacement now being operated for Buczkowski and Plymouth’s Ryan Fisher being booked as guest to replace Allen.

Jonasson has not been ruled out of Panthers team plans, though, and will likely be drafted back into the line-up after he has regained fitness.

Meanwhile, Coventry’s FIM Fogo British SGP wild card Scott Nicholls has been ruled out of the Bees’ Elite League fixture at Wolverhampton tonight.

Nicholls crashed in Poland on Sunday, suffering shoulder damage, and is set for physiotherapy today which should also confirm the extent of the injury.

In his absence, Bees have no option but to use rider replacement, with all members of the team entitled to take one of Nicholls’ rides.
