UN-STEADY FUTURE FOR SIMON?

Team Great Britain star Simon Stead admits he remains in the dark over his Swindon future after being contacted by two clubs offering him team spots last Friday.

The Yorkshireman celebrated his testimonial at Blunsdon last Thursday, but the sport was left stunned the following day when Stead tweeted: “I guess if I've had two clubs call me in 30mins offering me a team place it means I've had the sack?! Can @AJROSCO (team manager Alun Rossiter) or (promoter) @garypatchett confirm?”

When asked about his Robins future earlier this evening, Stead admitted he was unsure what it held. He said: “When you find out, give me a ring because I don’t know.”

It was rumoured that the Robins were in the hunt for Polish stars Robert Miskowiak, who recently left Wolves, and the in-form Grzegorz Zengota, who raced for the Wiltshire outfit last term.

But Speedwaygp.com sources have indicated that Stead is in Robins’ declared one-to-seven to tackle Elite League leaders Poole on Thursday.

There has been no official announcement from the Robins regarding Stead’s status, although Rossiter confirmed to the Swindon Advertiser last Saturday that, “Nothing's changed, at the moment he's still a Swindon rider.”

Stead has struggled for form at Swindon this term, but remains a popular figure at the Abbey Stadium.

Robins are desperately seeking their first title since 1967. But attempts to replace him so soon after his big night may have been deemed to be in bad taste by the fans, prompting a rethink by the Blunsdon management.
