Danish racer Bjarne Pedersen is determined to sign off his FIM Speedway Grand Prix career in Denmark with a big performance in Vojens this evening.

The FIM Dansk Metal Nordic SGP will be Pedersen’s final World Championship appearance on home shale after the Holstebro favourite confirmed this is his last season in the competition.

The Birmingham, Vargarna and Gniezno man will focus on his club commitments from next season onwards, but would love to go out on a high in front of his home fans.

"It would be great to go into the semi and see what happens from there."

Pedersen, who scored six points at the last round in Malilla, is targeting his first semi-final appearance since the Danish SGP in Copenhagen in June as he bids for a shot at reaching the final.

The 34-year-old said: “I felt I had some good speed in Malilla. I was a little bit unlucky not to make it into the semis. There were a few close finishes on the line.

“But I’m still feeling good and confident. I’ll go into Vojens and do my best. You need a bit of luck in the Grand Prix. Hopefully we’ve got that with us. It would be great to go into the semi and see what happens from there.

“I haven’t been on the track in Vojens since last year. So it’s not as if I’ve been training there every week. But it’s still a good track down there and it’s a fair track. Everybody can race quite fast and I’m looking forward to tonight.”
