ENGLAND U21S VISIT KING'S LYNN

Thursday 11th October 2012, 13:47

The England Under-21 football team took in a meeting at King’s Lynn’s Norfolk Arena as they relaxed ahead of their Euro 2013 play-off.

Stuart Peace’s men are in action against Serbia at Norwich on Friday and fancied a night off. So the Lynn management invited them to watch the Young Stars’ British National League clash with Rye House.

The Lions were given VIP treatment at one of this season’s FIM Monster Energy Speedway World Cup venues and it’s clear they were impressed with the British young guns.

After watching Young Stars’ 52-44 win, Manchester City midfielder Jack Rodwell told TheFA.com: “I’ve never been to it before, so I didn’t know what to expect.

“One of the riders I met is only 20, so not much younger than me. He’s riding for a living and was telling me about the injuries he’s had. He’s broken his leg, he’s broken his hand and they just get on with it basically.

"It’s something different, something new to take on board. Everyone really enjoyed it."

“I believe they go faster than Formula One cars at the start so was interesting to watch.”

Middlesbrough goalkeeper Jason Steele witnessed a crash between Raiders’ Luke Chessell and Young Stars’ Scott Campos, which saw the home rider taken away in an ambulance. But he enjoyed a night away from the team hotel.

He said: “It’s all-action, isn’t it. Unfortunately one didn’t look too good and went away in an ambulance, so hopefully he’ll be alright.

“It got us out of the hotel for a couple of hours, a bit of fresh air. It’s something different, something new to take on board. Everyone really enjoyed it.”

The visit was filmed by TheFA.com. Check out the action here: http://www.thefa.com/England/mens-under-21s/News/2012/under-21s-speedway-101012
