Double world champion Tai Woffinden led Vaclav Milik to a dramatic 5-1 in Gorzow on Sunday as Wroclaw set up a Polish Ekstraliga play-off final with local rivals Leszno.
With the scores poised at 87-87 on aggregate after 29 heats of the semi-final showdown, Woffinden and Milik took on Gorzow’s SGP pair Bartosz Zmarzlik and Martin Vaculik in a winner-takes-all shoot-out for the final.
Both sides held their breath after a crash between Vaculik and Milik on bend one, but the referee called all four riders back for the re-start.
And Milik made the most of his second chance, trapping along with Woffy to seal a 45-45 draw on the night and a 92-88 aggregate triumph.
Woffinden starred on a fantastic 15 paid 16 points, while Milik raced to 13 paid 14. Polish champion Szymon Wozniak tallied 10, but it was a tough day for Maciej Janowski, who scored two paid three.
Vaculik led the Gorzow scoring on 11, Krzysztof Kasprzak collected 10 paid 11 and Zmarzlik zoomed to 10.
Elsewhere, visitors Leszno stunned table-topping Zielona Gora 45-45, with Janusz Kolodziej leading the charge on 11. Piotr Pawlicki picked up 10 paid 11 and Emil Sayfutdinov notched nine.
Former world No.2 Jaroslaw Hampel shone for Falubaz on 13 paid 14, with World Championship contender Patryk Dudek tallying 10 paid 12. SGP series leader Jason Doyle was unable to build on his heroics in Teterow, managing just four points.
