AUSSIE CHAMPIONSHIP LINE-UP REVEALED

The Australian Championship line-up has been revealed as Sam Masters launches his title defence next month.

16 / 12 / 2017, 11:48

Aussie star Sam Masters launches his Australian Championship defence next month as the likes of Max Fricke, Brady Kurtz, Jack Holder, Rohan Tungate and Justin Sedgmen join him in the four-round series.

The action gets underway at Kurri Kurri on January 6, before moving to Undera on January 10, Mildura on January 12 and concluding at Adelaide track Gillman on January 14.

Masters won his maiden title last January, and the Wolves star will be among the favourites again as he bids for No.2.

But he faces stiff competition from four-time national under-21 champion Max Fricke, who is seeking his first senior crown after making huge strides on the world stage in recent years.

Kurtz will be keen to add to his 2016 title, while Holder aims to claim his first national senior crown after winning the junior final in 2016.

Mildura favourite Sedgmen finished second last year and will be determined to go one better, while Kurri Kurri’s Rohan Tungate is regularly among the championship frontrunners.

The likes of world champion Jason Doyle, Chris Holder, Troy Batchelor, Josh Grajczonek and Nick Morris are missing from the line-up.

The field is completed by Mason Campton, Matthew Gilmore, Josh Pickering, Jye Etheridge, Joel Coyne, Declan Knowles, Jaimon Lidsey, Robert Medson, Cooper Riordan and Jordan Stewart. James Davies, Matthew Pickering and Ben Cook are named as reserves
