The Swedish FIM Speedway Grand Prix stays in Hallstavik after rights holders BSI Speedway signed a new two-year deal with Rospiggarna Speedway to keep the event at the HZ Bygg Arena.

The venue hosted World Championship racing for the first time on July 7, with a huge crowd turning out to see Polish star Maciej Janowski top the podium, with home hero Fredrik Lindgren finishing second.

Keeping the Swedish SGP in Hallstavik is a great result for the club, the town and the region and we look forward to welcoming the FIM Speedway Grand Prix riders and officials in 2019 and beyond.

While the dates for the 2019 and 2020 events are yet to be confirmed, BSI Speedway managing director Torben Olsen looks forward to building on the venue’s successful SGP debut.

He said: “It was great to see so many fans enjoying the FIM Speedway Grand Prix racing in Hallstavik and everyone at the club worked tirelessly to make their first SGP event a real success.

“Rospiggarna have invested heavily in the facilities at the HZ Bygg Arena, with the pits and clubhouse looking absolutely fantastic.

“It’s a fitting stage for speedway’s biggest names and we look forward to bringing them to Hallstavik in the years to come.”

Mikael Teurnberg, chairman of Rospiggarna speedway, said: “It’s an exciting time for Rospiggarna with all the improvements we have made at the HZ Bygg Arena and the team’s success on the track in recent years.

“Keeping the Swedish SGP in Hallstavik is a great result for the club, the town and the region and we look forward to welcoming the FIM Speedway Grand Prix riders and officials in 2019 and beyond.”
