World Championship chaser Bartosz Zmarzlik handed Gorzow a huge boost before Sunday’s PGE Ekstraliga Final opener after signing a fresh two-year deal with the club.

Zmarzlik, who also penned a new one-season contract with Swedish Elitserien side Vetlanda last week, is just nine points behind Tai Woffinden in the race for FIM Speedway Grand Prix gold.

Since becoming the youngest ever SGP winner at the Edward Jancarz Stadium in 2014, Zmarzlik has developed into one of the world’s top riders in Gorzow’s yellow and blue.

And club president Ireneusz Maciej Zmora would love to see a rider who first represented Gorzow in 2011 go all the way to the top in their colours.

He told the club’s official website: “We are very happy that our pupil Bartek Zmarzlik stays with us for the next two seasons.

“It is also important for the club that he did it at an exceptional time for supporters – on the eve of the first final.

“My dream as the president of the club is that Bartek, as a graduate of Stal, becomes an individual world champion.”
