SAYFUTDINOV RETURNS TO RUSSIAN LEAGUE

SGP star Emil Sayfutdinov has given speedway in his homeland another huge boost after returning to Russian league club Balakovo for 2019.

FIM Speedway Grand Prix star Emil Sayfutdinov has given speedway in his homeland another huge boost after returning to Russian league club Balakovo for 2019.

Sayfutdinov only raced in the PGE Ekstraliga last term alongside his SGP and Speedway European Championship commitments, and the Salavat-born star was keen to be busier next term.

In the week the Monster Energy FIM Speedway of Nations winner discovered he will be defending Russia’s world title on home shale in Togliatti on July 20 and 21, Sayfutdinov has delivered more good news for the sport there.

Posting on Facebook, he wrote: “Really happy to tell you all that I will be back in Turbina Balakovo colours for the 2019 Russian league.

“I really would like ride more meetings than this year and give so much happiness to our fans.

“Big thanks to the president of Balakovo city, Aleksandr Solovjov, for helping me and the club with negotiations.”

The news caps a great year for Russian speedway after Sayfutdinov joined Artem Laguta and Gleb Chugunov in winning the first ever Monster Energy SON Finals as the country claimed its first world speedway title of any kind.

Laguta also stormed to sixth spot on his return to the SGP series, with Sayfutdinov also qualifying automatically for SGP 2019 by finishing eighth.
