SWALLOWS WITH PRIDE

Friday 9th December 2011, 22:51
Tarnow have finally unveiled world champion Greg Hancock as the man to lead their 2012 Polish Ekstraliga title assault.
Hancock was forced out of Zielona Gora by the rule which limits teams to one SGP star each for next year, as Falubaz already had a valid contract in place with Andreas Jonsson.
But their loss is Tarnow’s gain and he will be joined in their colours by World Under-21 champion Maciej Janowski, who makes a huge move from his hometown club Wroclaw.
Fans even pleaded for financial assistance from the local authorities to keep their hero at the Olympic Stadium, but the lure of racing with his mentor Hancock proved too great for Janowski to resist.
As a junior, he will be eligible to race at reserve all season and should prove a real trump card for new team boss Marek Cieslak.
The champions are joined by Tarnow-born favourite Janusz Kolodziej, who returns to the Swallows after two seasons with Leszno.
SGP series first reserve Martin Vaculik and Danish star Leon Madsen are retained from last season’s squad, while Dawid Lampart joins from Rzeszow.
He must race as a senior next year, but Kacper Gomolski could prove a real hit at reserve after joining from First Division side Gniezno. Jakub Jamróg, Tadeusz Kostro, Ćukasz Lesiak, Arkadiusz Madej and Edward Mazur complete the list of juniors.
