FREDDIE EYES WOLVES TESTIMONIAL

Swedish international Freddie Lindgren is already salivating at the prospect of a Wolverhampton testimonial as he prepares to sign up for a ninth straight full season at Monmore Green.

The Grand Prix star has confirmed he will visit the Black Country to pen his 2012 deal during the club’s winter talk-in at Chillington WMC, Hickman Avenue on January 9.

Lindgren joins British star Tai Woffinden, Danish racer Nicolai Klindt, Australia’s Tyron Proctor and Polish teenager Lukasz Sowka as a confirmed starter for next year.

But none of the Wolves side know Monmore Green better than Fast Freddie, who first joined the club in late 2003 and has been a fixture in the side ever since. If he stays put a little longer, Lindgren will be due a testimonial in 2013 or 2014 to celebrate a decade as a Wolves rider.

And in an era which sees his fellow riders chop and change their teams year after year due to the sport’s team-building rules, Lindgren is proud to be a one-club man.

"I would be very proud if I had a testimonial at Wolves. Not only have I been owned by the same club for my whole career, I’ve been riding for the same club."

He said: “I don’t know exactly which year I’ll be due a testimonial meeting, but it’s not that far away if I keep riding in Britain.

“I would be very proud if I had a testimonial at Wolves. Not only have I been owned by the same club for my whole career, I’ve been riding for the same club. Racing for one team for 10 years would be something special I think.

“Wolves is like my home. I’ve been there from a young age and they’ve always taken good care of me. Pete Adams is a great team manager and motivator.

“After such a long time, you improve as a rider and everything works well. I’ve been very lucky that they’ve wanted to keep me, but it’s due to the fact I’ve been improving all the time as well.”

Lindgren is happy with how the 2012 Wolves side is taking shape and is particularly pleased to see so many familiar faces alongside him.

Woffinden and Proctor have been at Monmore Green since 2009, while Klindt, who first joined in 2008, is back after a year on loan at Swindon.

While other sides may take time to gel, Fast Freddie is certain Wolves will have a great team spirit from the off.

He said: “One of the strong points in the Wolves camp over the past couple of years is that they haven’t changed that many riders about. It’s good to see some familiar faces back for next year and it feels like a team.

“We have a really good time working for the club. We all really enjoy each other’s company and it plays a huge role in creating team spirit.

“Even though we didn’t have the best season this year, we still had a really good time together. It’s just a shame the results didn’t go our way.”

Lindgren confirmed he has also reached an agreement with a Polish club for 2012, but he said: “I can’t say anything more just yet.”
