HANS SEEKING PROMOTION

Wednesday 14th December 2011, 13:26
Danish racer Hans Andersen will spearhead Grudziadz’s bid for promotion from the Polish First Division in 2012.
The Grand Prix wild card was en route to Zielona Gora to pen a deal with the Ekstraliga champions when he was offered a spot in the World Championship for next year following Darcy Ward’s withdrawal.
The former world No.5 put money over ambition, knocked back the lucrative deal with Falubaz, who already had world No.2 Andreas Jonsson on their books, and accepted the No.15 race jacket.
This decision all but ended his hopes of getting a contract in the Ekstraliga where the 10 clubs are permitted just one SGP star each.
But Grudziadz offered Andersen the chance to help them win a top flight place for 2013.
The two-time Speedway World Cup winner joins the likes of Grand Prix rival Peter Ljung and Australian international Davey Watt in the side.
Confirming the news on Twitter, Andersen wrote: “Oh well 2012 is all settled as my NEW Polish team will be Grudziadz #grudziadzExtraLeague2013!”
