GRIN ENJOYING MALILLA LIFE

American legend Greg Hancock says the settled life with Dackarna is bringing out the best in the Malilla men.

American legend Greg Hancock says the settled life with Dackarna is bringing out the best in the Malilla men.

While the Californian is searching for a new club in Poland following the closure of First Division club Rzeszow due to financial troubles, things couldn’t be running more smoothly for him in Sweden.

I love riding in Sweden. I love being involved in Dackarna. They have been a really great club and those are the kind of things that motivate you constantly.

Greg Hancock

Hancock is back with Dackarna after leading the club into the Elitserien play-off final last summer, before losing out against Smederna.

The club is still searching for its first league title since 2007. But it’s clear Grin is enjoying life at the G&B Arena, where he joins forces with FIM Speedway Grand Prix rivals Patryk Dudek and Maciej Janowski.

He said: “I love riding in Sweden. I love being involved in Dackarna. They have been a really great club and those are the kind of things that motivate you constantly.

“You know you’re going to get paid. It’s a great speedway track and they have great management. We have a great group of riders and you saw how well we did last year because of it.”

Hancock is no stranger to guiding younger team mates – whether they’re SGP stars or relative rookies. But the 48-year-old admits working with riders like former protégée Janowski and Dudek inspires him to stay at his best.

He said: “Obviously I am the elder rider in the club and that works so well. I have the experience, but I also have the interest to know what they are doing too.

“To know what keeps these kids interested, I have to be right there with them. I am eyes and ears all the time.”
