LINDBACK'S POLISH HOME

Swedish star Antonio Lindback insists he’s part of PGE Ekstraliga side Grudziadz for the long term, enthusing “It’s the best club ever!”

Swedish star Antonio Lindback insists he’s part of PGE Ekstraliga side Grudziadz for the long term, enthusing “It’s the best club ever!”

The Rio Rocket joined the club in 2016 when they were elevated into the top flight and has been there ever since.

It’s like my second home club. Grudziadz have done well for me when I have been up and down. They’re an absolutely fantastic club. If it’s up to me, I will stay there for many, many years.

The SGP regular joins forces with the likes of World Championship rival Artem Laguta, local hero Krzysztof Buczkowski, Przemyslaw Pawlicki and winter signing Kenneth Bjerre at the club this term.

Despite his own fortunes fluctuating in his time with Grudziadz, Lindback is delighted with the backing he has received there and has no plans to race anywhere else in Poland.

“It’s the best club ever!” he said. “It’s like my second home club. Grudziadz have done well for me when I have been up and down. They’re an absolutely fantastic club. If it’s up to me, I will stay there for many, many years.”

With the club finishing sixth last season, he’s determined to step up their fight for a play-off place as Grudziadz continues to cement its status as one of Poland’s elite teams.

He said: “Last year we were a little bit disappointed. Unfortunately it’s like that sometimes. But we’re going for the top four – I cannot say anything else for now. My goal is to go there and take them up to the top. They have the kind of riders that can be there. It will be good.”
