Danish racer Leon Madsen launched his PGE Ekstraliga season in style, storming to 14 points as Czestochowa pipped visitors Gorzow 47-43 on Friday.

The FIM Speedway Grand Prix wild card raced to the win in heat 15 which sealed the points for the Lions, with SGP rivals Freddie Lindgren and Matej Zagar backing him up on 10 and nine paid 10 points respectively.

Gorzow pushed Czestochowa close courtesy of a big performance from Danish star Anders Thomsen, who impressed on 13 paid 15, while world No.2 Bartosz Zmarzlik bagged 13 paid 14.

In the day’s other match, another Dane started the season on fire as triple world champion Nicki Pedersen romped to 14 for new club Zielona Gora in a 53-37 win at home to Torun.

Pedersen wasn’t short of scoring support as Patryk Dudek and Martin Vaculik both weighed in with 11 paid 13, while Piotr Protasiewicz picked up nine paid 11 points.

Danish champion Niels-Kristian Iversen joined Madsen and Pedersen in the 14-point club. Jason Doyle tallied 10 on his old home track.
