Birthday boy Bartosz Zmarzlik celebrated turning 24 in style as he raced to 16 paid 17 points as Gorzow beat Lublin 49-41 in the PGE Ekstraliga on Friday.
The world No.2 has well and truly established himself as Gorzow’s talisman and he inspired them to their first win of 2019, dropping just a point to visiting Danish racer Mikkel Michelsen along the way.
Zmarzlik was backed up by 11 paid 13 points from former Polish champion Szymon Wozniak and 11 from reserve Rafal Karczmarz.
Michelsen starred for Lublin on nine paid 10, while SGP first reserve Robert Lambert added seven paid nine.
In the day’s other meeting, former SGP racer Przemyslaw Pawlicki powered to 14 paid 15 points for Grudziadz as they saw off Czestochowa 47-43.
Lions hotshot Freddie Lindgren was the only rider to defeat the Pole over his six rides, with the Swede tallying 14.
Local favourite Krzysztof Buczkowski also impressed for the hosts on 10 paid 11, with Kenneth Bjerre adding eight paid nine and Antonio Lindback scoring seven points.
Lindgren was aided by 12 paid 14 from SGP newcomer Leon Madsen, while Matej Zagar bagged seven.
Torun host champions Leszno and Wroclaw welcome Zielona Gora in Sunday’s Ekstraliga contests.
