TRACK TROUBLE SEES POLISH GOLDEN HELMET POSTPONED

The Polish Golden Helmet Final ended in a cloud of controversy after the meeting in Pila was called off due to an unfit track.

The Polish Golden Helmet Final ended in a cloud of controversy after the meeting in Pila was called off due to an unfit track.

Concerns over the surface and some exposed kerbs on the outside reportedly prompted protests from riders, forcing officials to postpone an event which picks Poland’s entrants for the FIM Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway European Championship qualification rounds.

It is unclear when the event will be restaged after reports an offer from Poznan to stage the meeting on Easter Monday was declined, with many of the top Poles due to race for their country against a Rest of the World team in Rzeszow that day.

SGP trio Maciej Janowski, Patryk Dudek and Janusz Kolodziej were all due to take part in the Golden Helmet meeting.
