MILIK COVERS FOR MAGIC IN MALILLA

Czech racer Vaclav Milik has been drafted in by Swedish side Dackarna as SGP star Maciej Janowski faces a stint on the sidelines.

Czech racer Vaclav Milik has been drafted in by Swedish side Dackarna as SGP star Maciej Janowski faces a stint on the sidelines.

The Malilla men have endured a nightmare start to 2019 following the news four-time world champion Greg Hancock has delayed his return to Europe as he cares for wife Jennie, who is battling breast cancer in California.

Their preparations for the season took another hammer-blow when Janowski suffered shoulder ligament damage at a PGE Ekstraliga match in Grudziadz on May 3.

After drafting in Danish international Frederik Jakobsen to replace Hancock, Milik has now been called in to cover for Janowski. With the club confirming the Pole will miss a few matches, they wasted no time in snapping up the former Indianerna rider.

Coach Peter Karlsson told the Dackarna official website: "When we got the message from Janowski, we had to act. We must have riders in the squad who can race and, with two of our intended top riders gone, we must bring in a rider so we can stay within the average limit.

“Milik is a really good rider who is now starting to find some form and has not yet peaked in his career.”

Despite being replaced in Malilla, Janowski is yet to officially withdraw from the Boll Warsaw SGP this Saturday and could make a late decision on his fitness for the World Championship opener.
