TETEROW TO CELEBRATE 100 YEARS WITH SGP IN 2020

Teterow extends German FIM Speedway Grand Prix agreement into centenary year.

05 / 06 / 2019, 16:00

FIM Speedway Grand Prix action will continue at Teterow's Bergring Arena in 2020 as the venue celebrates its 100th anniversary of racing.

Next year's German SGP takes place on May 30, with the 2019 round heading to Teterow on August 31.

The 2020 showpiece will be a fitting occasion to mark the centenary of one of Germany's finest track racing venues, also famed for its iconic longtrack circuit.

Teterow first hosted SGP action in 2016 - the 200th round since the series was launched in 1995.

Paul Bellamy, Senior Vice President of IMG Motorsports paid tribute to Teterow's role in returning the series to Germany.

He said: "It's a real pleasure to bring the German SGP back to Teterow in conjunction with the club there.

"It was clear there was a real demand for World Championship speedway in Germany and Teterow has stepped up to help us meet that.

"We look forward to what should be a great night in 2020, and before that, we're getting ready for a great 2019 AZTORIN German SGP on August 31."

Adi Schlaak from MC Bergring said: "I am really happy that we are able to extend co-operation with BSI Speedway for another year, especially given the combination with our 100th anniversary.

"The event is going to be something unique. The club and everyone involved are really excited. It will be a huge event for us, as well as for German speedway in general."
