BERNTZON BACK IN SGP ACTION

In-form Swedish star Oliver Berntzon returns to the FIM Speedway Grand Prix stage as wild card for the Norrbil Swedish SGP in Hallstavik.

12 / 06 / 2019, 14:00

In-form Swedish star Oliver Berntzon returns to the FIM Speedway Grand Prix stage as wild card for the Norrbil Swedish SGP in Hallstavik on July 6.

The Dackarna rider wears the famous No.16 race jacket after a sublime start to the 2019 Swedish Elitserien season, which has seen him play a pivotal role for the club in the absence of SGP riders Greg Hancock and Maciej Janowski.

This will be the 25-year-old’s first SGP start. He scored three points from five rides as a track reserve at the 2013 Scandinavian SGP in Stockholm. He then matched that tally when he won heat 18 of the 2018 Scandinavian SGP in Malilla on another reserve outing.

Berntzon was due to serve as a track reserve in Hallstavik last year, but was forced out with a concussion. So he will be delighted to return and take his place in the starting 16 this time around.

As well as representing Dackarna, the Anderstorp-born man also rides for Griparna in the Swedish Allsvenskan League and Gniezno in the Polish First Division.

He’s joined in the Norrbil Swedish SGP by track reserves Pontus Aspgren and Kim Nilsson, who line up at No.17 and No.18 respectively.

Aspgren goes into the meeting on the back of qualifying for the GP Challenge in Gorican on August 24, where the top three earn SGP 2020 places. Meanwhile, Nilsson has been piling up the points for Masarna in the Elitserien.

The referee for the meeting is Jesper Steentoft from Denmark.

Tickets are still available online for the Norrbil Swedish SGP. Click here to buy now: http://bit.ly/31rtWdo.
