NO CONCERNS OVER HUCKENBECK

German ace Kai Huckenbeck avoided serious injury after crashing out of Piraterna’s trip to Vetlanda on Tuesday night.

German ace Kai Huckenbeck avoided serious injury after crashing out of Piraterna’s trip to Vetlanda on Tuesday night.

The FIM Speedway of Nations star collided with Vetlanda’s Polish stars Szymon Wozniak and Dominik Kubera in heat one of the Elitserien contest.

Early reports suggested Huckenbeck suffered a concussion and pain in the knee, but his Polish club Lodz has played down concerns over the injury.

A post on their official Facebook page confirmed: "In the Swedish league, Kai Huckenbeck suffered a bad fall in his first race, and the German did not appear on the track.

“But fortunately nothing happened to him. The knee is very swollen, but there are no fractures and internal injuries."

The news is a boost to his country as they prepare for the SON Finals at Russian race track Togliatti on July 20 and 21.

Huckenbeck played a key role alongside Martin Smolinski as Germany finished third in Race Off 1 at Landshut on May 4 to book their place in the Finals for the second straight season.
