JANOWSKI AND LAMBERT RULED OUT

Polish skipper Maciej Janowski and Great Britain under-21 Robert Lambert have withdrawn from tonight’s Monster Energy Final 2 in Togliatti

21 / 07 / 2019, 14:34

The FIM has confirmed that Polish skipper Maciej Janowski and Great Britain under-21 Robert Lambert have withdrawn from tonight’s Monster Energy FIM Speedway of Nations Final Day 2 in Togliatti.

Janowski suffered a first-turn fall in heat 21 on Day 1, and while he sustained no broken bones, was left badly bruised in a crash with Sweden’s Filip Hjelmland.

His place is taken by World Championship frontrunner Patryk Dudek, who has travelled to Togliatti with the Polish team.

Meanwhile, Lambert has pulled out of the meeting with whiplash injuries, sustained in a collision with team mate Craig Cook in heat four last night.

With his neck becoming progressively worse over the course of the day, he has been stood down for the evening’s action.

Head of performance Chris Neville said: "After further assessment today and a fitness to ride evaluation, and after lengthy discussions with Robert and the management team, it has been decided that in his best interests he should be withdrawn from this evening's meeting.

“This is due to ongoing symptoms and a significant restriction of his neck and shoulder movements."

With Britain’s reserve under-21 Dan Bewley not in Russia, Lions will have to contest one race tonight with one rider only as their under-21 rider must feature in at least one heat.
