MICHELSEN JOINS MALILLA LINE-UP

Danish star Mikkel Michelsen has been handed a call-up for the Scandinavian SGP on Saturday after Sweden’s Antonio Lindback withdrew.

Danish shooting star Mikkel Michelsen has been handed a call-up for the Scandinavian FIM Speedway Grand Prix on Saturday after Sweden’s Antonio Lindback withdrew due to injury.

Lindback sustained a shoulder problem at the Speedway European Championship round in Vojens last Saturday.

That meeting was won by Michelsen in fine style and the SGP third reserve gets his first World Championship call-up of the season, with first reserve Robert Lambert nursing a back injury and second stand-in Max Fricke already covering for the absent Greg Hancock.

Michelsen made one SGP appearance as a track reserve in Horsens last year, scoring one point. His one and only full outing in an SGP event came at the 2015 Danish SGP, when he scored six points from five rides.

Despite Lindback’s absence, the Swedes will still be represented by world No.3 Fredrik Lindgren and wild card Jacob Thorssell – the new Swedish champion and a Dackarna rider.

We wish Antonio a speedy recovery.
