Russian shooting star Gleb Chugunov stormed to 13 paid 14 points for Smederna as they stunned hosts Vetlanda 45-44 to reach a third straight Swedish Elitserien play-off final.

The Eskilstuna outfit is targeting a third straight league title, but appeared to be in trouble after winning the home leg of their semi-final by a slender 46-44 margin last week.

That was until Chugunov’s heroics on the road sealed them a 91-88 aggregate success and a showdown with table-topping Dackarna in the final.

The two-time Monster Energy FIM Speedway of Nations winner was backed up by 10 paid 12 points from world No.3 Freddie Lindgren.

Vetlanda’s SGP stars also piled up the points, with Artem Laguta accruing 14 and Bartosz Zmarzlik bagging 13.

In the other semi-final, Piotr Pawlicki raced to 14 points for Dackarna as they saw off Vastervik 49-41 to complete a 95-85 aggregate triumph in Malilla.

Pawlicki was aided by 11 paid 12 from Patryk Dudek and eight paid 11 from Maciej Janowski. Bartosz Smektala topped the Vastervik scorechart on 11.
