SAYFUTDINOV LEADS LESZNO'S CHARGE IN 2020

Emil Sayfutdinov will spearhead Leszno’s bid for an historic fourth straight PGE Ekstraliga title as the Bulls name an unchanged squad.

Russian racer Emil Sayfutdinov will spearhead Leszno’s bid for an historic fourth straight PGE Ekstraliga title as the Bulls name an unchanged squad once again for 2020.

Sayfutdinov has signed a fresh two-year deal and is joined in the team by Polish trio Janusz Kolodziej, Jaroslaw Hampel and Piotr Pawlicki, who are all contracted until the end of 2020.

Former World Under-21 champion Bartosz Smektala joins the senior ranks for the first time, but Leszno still have the scoring power of Dominik Kubera at reserve next year.

We won't rest on our laurels as we defend the gold medal in the 2020 season.

Piotr Rusiecki

Aussie pair Brady Kurtz and Jaimon Lidsey complete the seniors list and will face a fight for starting places, while Szymon Szlauderbach and Kacper Pludra will compete to partner Kubera at reserve.

For three winters running, the Leszno side has been virtually unaltered – and with good reason as their 2019 success saw them become the first side to win three championships on the bounce since the Ekstraliga was launched in 2000.

Leszno won six Polish titles in a row between 1949 and 1954 and president Piotr Rusiecki is backing the club’s stars of the 21st century to continue writing history.

He told the club’s official website: “It was a great season from our riders; we won a third Polish title in a row and the 18th in the history of the club.

“From the beginning, we wanted everyone from our team to start with a bull on their race jacket for another year. The riders themselves are happy to work with us, so there were no problems to put everything together if both parties knew what they expected from each other.

“Team manager Piotr Baron will watch over everything. We won't rest on our laurels as we defend the gold medal in the 2020 season.

“I also thank FOGO, with whom we will continue our co-operation. The 2020 season will be the seventh season in which FOGO is the title sponsor of the Leszno team in the PGE Ekstraliga.”
