VOJENS HOSTS DANISH FINAL IN 2020

The next Danish champion will be crowned at FIM Speedway Grand Prix venue Vojens on June 10, 2020.

The next Danish champion will be crowned at FIM Speedway Grand Prix venue Vojens on June 10, 2020.

The Danish Championship returns to the national stadium next year following the arena's triumphant return to the sport this season, hosting both the Danish SGP sponsored by ECCO and a round of the Speedway European Championship.

Vojens will also enter a team in the Danish Speedway League next year, ensuring regular track action at the stadium, built by triple world champion Ole Olsen and now operated by his son Jacob.

Jacob is delighted to have brought the Danish Final back to Vojens. He said: “We see it as a gift from Denmark's Motor Union that Vojens has been awarded the Danish Championship.

“That it is a Wednesday night ahead of Friday suits us well because the Euro 2020 Finals, in which we all hope Denmark participates, start a few days after, and of course the Danes will focus on this a lot.”

SGP star Niels-Kristian Iversen saw his unprecedented streak of seven straight Danish titles halted by Kenneth Bjerre this year.

If NKI wins title No.8 at Vojens, he would surpass the seven claimed by triple world champion Nicki Pedersen and only 12-time winner Ole Olsen will have more Danish Championships to his name.

World No.2 Leon Madsen opted out of his national final this year, but would surely start among the favourites if he competed in 2020, having raced within two points of SGP World Championship gold at Torun in October.
