MADSEN NOMINATED FOR DANISH MOTORSPORT AWARDS

World No.2 Leon Madsen has been nominated for the Personality of the Year prize at the Danish Motorsport Awards – and he needs your votes!

World No.2 Leon Madsen has been nominated for the Personality of the Year prize at the Danish Motorsport Awards – and he needs your votes!

Last year, Madsen raced within two points of becoming Denmark’s first FIM Speedway Grand Prix world champion since Nicki Pedersen in 2008.

He stormed to victory on his full-time series debut at the Boll Warsaw SGP, before reeling off back-to-back wins to end the season at the Adrian Flux British SGP in Cardiff and the Revline Torun SGP.

Madsen roared to an unforgettable 21-point maximum in Torun to pile the pressure on home hero Bartosz Zmarzlik in the world title race, with Zmarzlik holding firm to get the job done.

Zmarzlik topped the podium at the Danish SGP sponsored by Ecco on his way to the title, and the Vojens event is a contender for the Motorsport Event of the Year prize following the national speedway stadium’s sensational return to the SGP World Championship calendar.

Madsen is also nominated in the Motorcyclist of the Year category along with Speedway European Championship winner Mikkel Michelsen – this year’s SGP second reserve.

Both Madsen and Michelsen are also in the running for Speedway Rider of the Year, alongside Danish champion Kenneth Bjerre, who sensationally ended Niels-Kristian Iversen’s seven-year winning streak in the national championship.

Denmark’s FIM Speedway Youth world champion Jesper Knudsen completes a talented field in this category, and is also nominated for the Talent of the Year prize and Team of the Year following a season which also saw his brother Jonas progress well on the 500cc machines with Esbjerg.
