Russian rocket Artem Laguta roared to his second straight PGE Ekstraliga maximum as Grudziadz routed visitors Rybnik 58-32 in a match marred by an horrific crash for Andzejs Lebedevs on Tuesday.
The FIM Speedway Grand Prix star blazed through his first four heats unbeaten, but was on the wrong end of a Rybnik 5-1 in heat 15 as Lebedevs and Robert Lambert led Laguta and Nicki Pedersen.
However, disaster struck as they entered the final lap, with Lambert catching his partner as he roared around the outside. Lebedevs lifted awkwardly, hitting the home-straight fence, before flying over the handlebars at speed.
An ambulance was quickly on the scene and early reports suggest the former European champion has sustained a suspected broken right leg.
Lambert was excluded from the re-run and Laguta took full advantage of his second chance, making a blistering start to complete a 15-point maximum.
Triple world champion Pedersen was also unbeaten on 13 paid 15, while Kenneth Bjerre dropped just a point on his way to 12 paid 14. Krzysztof Buczkowski bagged 10 paid 11.
Lebedevs ended the night as Rybnik’s top scorer on six paid eight, with Mateusz Szczepaniak scoring six paid seven and Kacper Woryna and Lambert adding six apiece.
