World No.2 Leon Madsen underwent successful back surgery in Bydgoszcz this morning.

The Danish international went under the knife to treat a herniated disc – the latest in a series of operations to treat a problem that has blighted the rider over the past year.

It didn’t stop Madsen racing to World Championship silver in 2019 as he fell just two points short of gold in a season that saw him win three SGP rounds in Warsaw, Cardiff and Torun.

Madsen, who is due to race for Czestochowa at home to Wroclaw on Sunday, took to social media this morning to declare himself happy with his latest operation as he seeks to remain in top condition throughout 2020.

He wrote: “So here I am after another back surgery in Bydgoszcz. Everything went well and hopefully it will all be good. Big thanks to Dr. Bogdan Kitlinski.”
