EKSTRALIGA | SAYFUTDINOV STARS IN LESZNO CHARGE

Emil Sayfutdinov stormed to 13 paid 14 for Leszno as they went three points clear at the PGE Ekstraliga summit with victory over Gorzow.

31 / 07 / 2020, 21:30

Russian ace Emil Sayfutdinov stormed to 13 paid 14 points for Leszno as they went three points clear at the PGE Ekstraliga summit with a 55-35 victory at home to Gorzow on Friday.

The world No.3 came up against world champion Bartosz Zmarzlik and the Pole was the only man who could deny him a maximum, winning heat 11 in fine style, while Sayfutdinov won a furious bar-to-bar battle with Krzysztof Kasprzak for second place.

But the double World Under-21 champion got revenge in heat 15, clearing off to defeat Zmarzlik as Leszno comfortably claimed the bonus point.

Sayfutdinov was supported by 13 points from Bartosz Smektala, who only lost out on a maximum when Zmarzlik finished ahead of him in heat 15.

Piotr Pawlicki also impressed on 10 paid 12, which included an epic win over Zmarzlik in heat eight, while Janusz Kolodziej collected nine paid 10.

Zmarzlik was Gorzow’s leading scorer on 10 paid 11, with Niels-Kristian Iversen notching eight and Anders Thomsen bagging seven.

In the day’s other meeting, Slovak star Martin Vaculik scored 15 points for the third straight meeting as Zielona Gora thrashed visitors Rybnik 57-33 to plunder the bonus point.

Vaculik went unbeaten over five commanding rides, and was aided by 11 paid 13 from Falubaz legend Piotr Protasiewicz. Antonio Lindback added a useful nine paid 12.

It was a tough evening for Patryk Dudek, who scored seven but endured mechanical problems in two of his races.

New European champion Robert Lambert was Rybnik’s leading scorer on nine paid 10, while Adrian Miedzinski scored seven.

Sunday’s matches see Grudziadz host Czestochowa and Lublin welcome Wroclaw.
