American international Broc Nicol is set for one of the biggest tests of his career to date as he heads to Croatia for the GP Challenge on August 22.
With no qualifiers taking place due to the coronavirus crisis, national federations have been asked to nominate a representative for a meeting where the top three riders book their places in SGP 2021.
Nicol has taken up the USA’s invitation and will be keen to build on his international experience in the FIM Speedway World Cup and Monster Energy FIM Speedway of Nations in his biggest individual test to date.
The Wolverhampton star said: He said: “It’s an honour to get the pick to represent my country in next month’s Grand Prix qualifier in Croatia.
“I have to travel to the UK next week and self-isolate for a couple of weeks before I think about the meeting.
“It will be a tough meeting for sure but I’ve had a couple of meetings at Perris over the past month. I felt really good on the bike and have plenty of self-belief right now.
“It’s the next step on the ladder for me and having tasted the qualifiers before, this one-off meeting will be a first. But I know if I can put five starts together on the day, I can compete with and beat anyone in the field.”
