GP CHALLENGE 2021 SET FOR SLOVAKIA

Next year’s FIM Speedway Grand Prix qualification race will climax in Zarnovica as the Slovak circuit stages the GP Challenge on August 21.

Next year’s FIM Speedway Grand Prix qualification race will climax in Zarnovica as the Slovak circuit stages the GP Challenge on August 21.

The meeting was due to take place there last summer, but it was switched to Croatian circuit Gorican due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The news comes as a huge boost to Slovakia’s favourite speedway son Martin Vaculik, who would be red-hot favourite to receive a wild card for the event in his home city.

With the top three riders guaranteed places in SGP 2022, the GP Challenge will be one of the biggest nights of speedway that Slovakia has staged.

The first SGP qualifying round takes place at German track Abensberg on May 24, with rounds at Scottish venue Glasgow, French circuit Lamothe-Landerron and Gorican to follow on May 29.

The FIM Speedway Under-21 World Championship will be decided over a three-round final series.

This gets underway at Stralsund, Germany on September 4, with round two in Poland on September 25 at a venue to be confirmed. The decider takes place at Czech circuit Pardubice on October 1 – the night before the senior world champion is crowned at the Torun SGP.

The World Under-21 qualifying rounds take place at Manchester’s National Speedway Stadium, Riga’s Bikernieku circuit and at Ludwigslust in Germany on June 12.

The FIM Team Speedway Under-21 World Championship Final takes place in Poland on September 24 at a venue to be revealed.

The FIM Speedway Youth World Championship will be held at Cloppenburg in Germany on July 23 and 24, with the FIM Speedway Youth Gold Trophy in Kumla, Sweden on July 17.
