Lejonen boss Anders Frojd is backing former Australian champion Rohan Tungate to star after he extended his contract into 2021.
The Aussie international finished fourth in this year’s Elitserien average charts as he teamed up with European champion Robert Lambert to lead the Lions to the top of the pre-play-off table.
While they were unable to reach the final, the Gislaved outfit wasted no time in bringing Tungate back in a year when he is due to race for Polish First Division side Tarnow and SGB Premiership club Peterborough.
A delighted Frojd told the club’s website: “With Rohan in the squad, we add another rider who in his best moments maintains the absolute highest level.
“With Rohan in the team, we get a rider who has clearly shown that he wants to be part of the club. He has always been very fast in Gislaved and in 2020 he took a big step in his development and has become even quicker.
“He was one of our leading riders in the matches he raced for us this year and we are of course looking forward to another season with Rohan as a potential heat leader.”
Elsewhere, Danish star Rasmus Jensen has completed a switch to Dackarna after spending the 2020 campaign with Rospiggarna. And Joel Kling has agreed terms with 2019 champions Smederna.
