MAGIC EYES SWEDISH GOLD WITH DACKARNA

World No.4 Maciej Janowski set his sights on ending Dackarna’s Bauhaus Elitserien title wait as he returns to Sweden for 2021.

World No.4 Maciej Janowski set his sights on ending Dackarna’s Bauhaus Elitserien title wait as he returns to Sweden for 2021.

The Wroclaw hero is back with the Malilla club after missing their shortened 2020 season amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Janowski has been part of the club since 2016 and is determined to play his part in winning Dackarna’s first Elitserien title since 2007.

The Swedish team championship hasn't come to Malilla for a while now – it's time to change that.

Posting on his Facebook page, he wrote: “The last year forced us to take a break from riding in the Swedish league. It was a tough decision, but I had to make it. The Swedish team championship hasn't come to Malilla for a while now – it's time to change that.”

Dackarna boss Mikael Teurnberg is tipping Magic for big things in 2021 – and not just with the team. He told the club’s website: “I have known Maciej well for many years since I had the pleasure of having him in Rospiggarna for half a season.

“He is an ambitious speedway rider who, with his fast starts and technical ability, is one of the world's best riders, who is just waiting for that big individual moment with a World Championship gold medal.”

Janowski joins the likes of Swedish champion Jacob Thorssell, Rasmus Jensen, Frederik Jakobsen and Kevin Wolbert in the side.

There was more good news for the Malilla club this week after they were unveiled as hosts of the Swedish Championship Final on July 13. They will also stage the Swedish Under-21 and Youth Finals on July 31.

These big dates join the Swedish FIM Speedway Grand Prix on the Malilla calendar as Sweden’s biggest speedway event returns on August 14.

Teurnberg said: “It is with joy and pride that we received the news that the Swedish Championship Final will be run in Malilla in 2021.

“The award of the Swedish Championship Final at the same time as Dackarna arranges Sweden's only GP competition just over a month later confirms that Dackarna consolidates its position as a top organiser of championships of the greater rank.”

Elsewhere in Sweden, Kim Nilsson is on his way back to Rospiggarna for 2021 after five seasons with Masarna. And Swedish young guns Anton Karlsson, Noel Wahlqvist, Philip Olofsson and Alex Johansson have all been confirmed in Vastervik’s squad.
