DOYLE'S BICEP OPERATION CANCELLED

Aussie star Jason Doyle revealed an operation to fix his torn right bicep was cancelled, but insisted “it doesn’t bother me on the bike.”

Aussie star Jason Doyle revealed an operation to fix his torn right bicep was cancelled, but insisted “it doesn’t bother me on the bike.”

The Norfolk-based star was due to go under the knife Down Under to fix the old injury last November, but surgery was delayed.

Doyle’s return home would have also been hampered by Covid-19 restrictions, which force any returning travellers to spend two weeks quarantined in a hotel room.

It doesn’t bother me on the bike. It’s only some movements when I am running where I get a cramp. It’s not a big problem.

He looked into undergoing surgery in Germany, but with doctors there opting against performing the operation, Doyle is ready to race on and insists the arm will not pose a problem on the bike.

He said: “Going back to Australia and doing an operation in Covid times is a bit dangerous. They had a bit of a backlog of operations anyway and said mine wasn’t a priority.

“Luckily one of my sponsors and Max Dilger organised for my right arm to be done in Germany in November. But we ended up not doing it because the German doctor said it’s okay and we don’t need to.

“It’s torn off, so I have a Popeye arm on the right side. I got the left arm done in Aussie and it was a great success. I felt like I’d do the same with the right arm.

“The German doctor does a lot of operations for the ice hockey players in Europe. He’s one of the top surgeons there. He says he doesn’t do the operation if any of the hockey players or other people get this injury. He said I should just leave it and work around it.
