As the 2021 season approaches, SpeedwayGP.com shines a spotlight on some of the potential FIM Speedway Grand Prix stars of the future. Next up is Polish racer Jakub Miskowiak.
The Czestochowa young gun is set to be one of the favourites for this year’s FIM Speedway Under-21 World Championship after establishing himself as one of Poland’s top juniors.
The 19-year-old won the Polish Under-21 Championship in 2019 and only just missed out on retaining the crown, with Leszno rival Dominik Kubera pipping him to last season’s title.
Miskowiak will be determined to regain the trophy as he chases individual glory nationally and internationally.
He helped his country to FIM Team Speedway Under-21 World Championship gold last summer, tallying 10 points as Poland triumphed over Denmark, Great Britain and Latvia in Outrup.
Miskowiak made his league racing debut with First Division club Lodz in 2017, before switching to Czestochowa in 2019.
With every PGE Ekstraliga club required to track two Polish under-21s in every meeting, Miskowiak is a vital member of the Czestochowa side.
He averaged 1.609 points per race in 2020, with Kubera and Wroclaw racer Gleb Chugunov the only Polish juniors ranked above him in the average charts, and both are now too old to occupy the under-21 berths.
Miskowiak looks set to be one of the prime contenders to serve as Poland’s under-21 rider at the Monster Energy FIM Speedway of Nations, which get underway with the Semi-Finals at Daugavpils in September.
While he faces stiff competition for the most hotly-contested junior spot in the competition, another big season from Miskowiak could make him a frontrunner as he emerges as one of Poland’s riders to watch.
