Double European champion Emil Sayfutdinov piled up 14 points for Leszno as they saw off Torun 47-43 in the PGE Ekstraliga on Friday.

The defending champions had to be on top form to get the better of the league’s newly-promoted side at the Alfred Smoczyk Stadium as Jack Holder racked up 14 points of his own.

But Sayfutdinov was in stellar form and dropped just one point from five rides, with Janusz Kolodziej backing him up on 10 paid 13. Jaimon Lidsey and Piotr Pawlicki picked up eight each, while Jason Doyle scored three.

Holder’s heroics for Torun were well supported by eight-point contributions from Robert Lambert, Chris Holder and Pawel Przedpelski.

In the day’s other meeting, world No.3 Freddie Lindgren raced to 13 points for Częstochowa as they triumphed 49-41 at home to Zielona Gora.

The Swede was backed up by 11-point tallies from Danish ace Leon Madsen and former World Under-21 champion Bartosz Smektala.

Aussie champion Max Fricke impressed for Falubaz on 12 paid 13, with Patryk Dudek tallying 10 and Matej Zagar notching nine paid 11.
