Great Britain racer Robert Lambert fired Torun to derby delight as they thumped neighbours Grudziadz 55-35 in the PGE Ekstraliga on Friday.

Torun roared into the league’s top four at the Marian Rose Motoarena, with European champion Lambert dropping just one point from five rides on his way to a fantastic 14.

He was well supported by 2012 world champion Chris Holder, who tallied 12, while Adrian Miedzinski notched nine paid 10.

Triple world champion Nicki Pedersen offered the visitors’ only major resistance on 14, with Przemyslaw Pawlicki and Kenneth Bjerre bagging six paid seven each. Krzysztof Kasprzak scored two paid three.

Elsewhere, Grigorii Laguta fended off a Zielona Gora fight back as Lublin sealed a precious 46-44 away win.

Laguta raced to second spot in heat 15 to seal his side the points and end the evening on 11, while former world No.2 Jaroslaw Hampel notched nine. Polish junior Wiktor Lampart impressed on eight paid 10, while his compatriot Mateusz Cierniak added eight.

Falubaz’s lower order struggled for points, but their big-hitters came close to saving their side from defeat. Patryk Dudek bagged 15, Matej Zagar added 12 paid 13 and Max Fricke raced to 10 paid 12.

Sunday’s PGE Ekstraliga matches have been postponed due to a poor weather forecast, meaning Gorzow versus Czestochowa and Wroclaw versus Leszno will now be rescheduled.
