The FIM Speedway Under-21 World Championship round due to take place in Manchester on June 12 has been cancelled.

The FIM confirmed the meeting was dropped “due to the impact and restrictions associated with the ongoing pandemic.”

But British clubs are still hoping to welcome fans back into stadiums from May 17, with the UK Government set to give the green light to plans for venues to open, while limiting capacity to allow for social distancing.

Meanwhile, the World Under-21 qualifying round due to take place in Riga has been switched to fellow Latvian track Daugavpils and will be staged on June 12. The other qualifier is set for German track Gustrow on the same date.

The three-round final series gets underway at Stralsund in Germany on September 4, with Polish club Krosno staging round two on September 25. The decider takes place at Czech venue Pardubice on October 1.
