British champion Rory Schlein escaped with no broken bones from his Glasgow fall, but admits he has “a mass hematoma” on his right thigh.

The Wolverhampton and Poole rider crashed with Craig Cook in heat one of Pirates’ SGB Championship match at Ashfield on Friday night.

The Cumbrian walked away from the incident, but Schlein left the track by ambulance to undergo hospital checks.

Posting on Instagram on Saturday morning, Schlein confirmed he sustained no fractures in the fall, but he is still nursing damage to the thigh.

He wrote: “So last night didn't go to plan. Spoke to the surgeon this morning and has said nothing is broken, but I have a mass hematoma on my upper right thigh and an internal bleed in the thigh muscle. Definitely a sore one.

“Thanks to @jakerose822 for staying up and to the @glasgowtigersspeedway medical staff – they were brilliant.”

It is unclear when Schlein, who retires from the sport at the end of the season, will be released from hospital and ready to resume racing.
