French international David Bellego and Polish racer Grzegorz Zengota are both set for a spell on the sidelines after crashing hard in Rybnik on Sunday.
The Bydgoszcz pair fell after Rybnik’s Rune Holta collided with the Pole on the third lap of heat nine in the teams’ Polish First Division match.
Zengota crashed with Bellego clattering into him and the riders were taken to hospital. The French star was diagnosed with a broken collarbone, but no surgery is needed.
Zengi has broken ribs and a punctured lung, but is said to be in a stable condition. It is unclear how long the duo will be absent from the shale.
With Bellego battling with Rybnik rider Kacper Gomolski when Holta caught Zengota, the Marmande-born star was gutted he could not avoid his falling team mate ahead of him.
Bellego told his Facebook page: “Really bad day at Rybnik. We are on the way home and I have broken my left collarbone again.
“I feel bad for the incident with Zengi. It was a hard situation on the track as I was battling hard with Gomolski and when I saw Zengi on floor, we were in the dirt and the bike was pulling.
“I did try my best to avoid him but it was not enough. I wish him all the best. Thank you all for the messages. I will give my best to be back as soon as possible, but unfortunately now we have to wait as no operation is needed.”
