DOYLE: HAPPY FAMILIES

Aussie star Jason Doyle paid tribute to PGE Ekstraliga champions Leszno for taking him in “like a family member” following his winter move.

Aussie star Jason Doyle paid tribute to PGE Ekstraliga champions Leszno for taking him in “like a family member” following his winter move.

The 2017 world champion was drafted in by the Bulls following the departures of Polish young guns Bartosz Smektala and Dominik Kubera.

JD is enjoying life at the Alfred Smoczyk Stadium, where he teams up with the likes of SGP rival Emil Sayfutdinov, World Under-21 champion Jaimon Lidsey and former SGP duo Janusz Kolodziej and Piotr Pawlicki.

The club has a long history of working with Aussie stars, with former world No.2 Leigh Adams still a hero in the city. Now Doyle is keen to build his own legacy there as they chase a fifth straight PGE Ekstraliga title.

He said: “I feel very happy to be at Leszno. They have taken me in like a family member. They have had so many great years, winning titles, so as a new rider coming into the team, I was a bit cautious at the start, thinking they might not welcome me in with open arms. But they have been amazing.

“I do feel at home here and I am being looked after by Polcopper (club president Piotr Rusiecki). I also have some really good sponsors at the club. It has been nice to go to a club I hope I will be at for many years. If my results stay how they are, there is no other option for me – I’ll stay with Leszno.

“Hopefully this is the chance to be a little bit like Leigh Adams and stay in the same club for so many years. Hopefully I can live up to their expectations.”
